Mesh Sweater

08/10/2022

This mesh sweater is one of my favorite ways to style the layering trend and I love the contrast look of the dark top under the sheer neutral. I’m always shopping my closet for items that I can style into the latest trends and this mesh sweater was the perfect find. I had forgotten about it until I spotted one at the Frankie Shop. It reminded me that I have a similar version and was the inspiration for this outfit.

When I say that I’ve has this mesh sweater for years, I’m not kidding! I remember getting it for a vacation shortly
after my second son was born and he’ll be 13 next month! I found it at H&M and it really has stood the test of
time. This light-weight sweater is a perfect example of how to build a closet with neutral colors and classic
pieces. The styling possibilities are endless and you’ll find that you can wear these simple pieces year after year
and they always look modern and on-trend.

I layered a strappy black crop top under the sweater. This top is my summer MVP – I’ve been wearing it with
nearly every top I own lately. It’s another item that is neutral, classic, and can be worn in countless ways. I really
love the tie neck detail, it gives casual beachy vibes that look so great in every summer outfit. And layering black
under a light color always feels so elevated to me. The days of wearing nude-colored tops and bras that disappear
under your clothes are over and I couldn’t be happier!

Now let’s talk about the rest of this outfit because I’m pretty obsessed with how it came together. These
parachute pants are beyond comfortable and the cargo pockets are very of-the-moment. This is definitely one of
the Y2K looks that I’ve completely embraced. I paired these pants with espadrilles that have an ankle tie, then
wrapped the tie around the bottom of the pants. It’s such a cool look and creates a very modern silhouette. Both
the pants and the espadrilles are part of my neutral-colored closet classics – years old but able to be styled into
any current trend.

I have to say that shopping my closet for this outfit was a resounding success. Over the years I’ve stuck to similar neutral tones and black in most of my purchases and it has made it so easy to style looks that are always trend-right.

Below I’ve linked some pieces so that you can get a similar look and start to build your own classic closet that will never go out of style.

See you soon!
