Oversize Blazer
1/17/2020
My oversize blazer had become my fashion workhorse ever since it found its way into my closet. I’m always looking for pieces that I can use in my wardrobe a number of different ways and this blazer is by far one of my most worn and loved styles right now. I really wear it whenever I can so I it was a no-brainer that it should be the star of my first post for 2020.

I happened to spot this blazer on the Zara website back in October and I knew I had to have it. And I was lucky to get it – it literally sold out immediately! I’ve been really into comfort lately so anything oversized is totally right up my alley. I didn’t even check the color when I ordered it so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a dark navy blue and not black. And the fit was exactly what I was looking for – I can wear it as a regular blazer but also as an outerwear piece layered over a sweater or light jacket.

The outfit in these pics is 100% me – it’s made up of modern classics which are also my current faves. There’s a high probability that if you ran into me on the street here in NYC, I’d be wearing this look or a version of it. We’ve had some pretty mild temps here in NYC lately so I only needed to layer a denim jacket under this oversize blazer and I was good to walk out the door. For the top I used a blue and white stripe long sleeve tee that I’ve had forever – it’s a version of a French Breton-style stripe. The fabric is a rib knit which makes it infinitely more cool than the French classic.

But what I really need to talk about is the fit of these jeans. They are super high waisted and have the best straight leg – not too skinny and not too wide. The length is on the longer side which makes them absolutely perfect to wear with a pair of low heels. I snagged them from Zara as well and I have to admit, this particular style is pretty hard to find anywhere right now. Zara was really ahead of the curve with this fit and I pray that they do a light wash version for Spring. The medium wash I’m wearing is sold out but I searched high and low online to find some cool versions of this cut for you and I linked them below.

I pulled this whole look together with gold – surprise! If you know me at all, you know I’m obsessed with anything gold these days. You can find some of my other blog posts that include gold jewelry here and here. For this look I layered some of my favorite gold necklaces, including my chunky cuban chain which is my current obsession. The gold kitten heel slingbacks are oldies from over 15 years ago! They’re Siegerson Morrison and they have the best pointy toe ever. They look just as cool now as they did back then. There’s something about the silhouette of these shoes with the longer jeans that just looks so chic.
