White Linen Skirt

6/11/2019

The latest addition to my closet is a white linen skirt. I’ve been on the hunt for a button-front, white midi skirt for a few years now. Frankly, it seems like the type of piece that you should be able to find everywhere in the Spring, but I just had no luck – until now. When I spotted this skirt on the Mango website, I could’t wait to try it on.

There are a million ways to style a white skirt for Spring but I wanted to do something a little different and use what had in my closet. So I chose a neutral direction. It’s really wearable and looks a little more sophisticated than if I had paired the white with brights or black.

I have a ton of lightweight tanks that I wear under everything. The one in these pics is from a store I loved called Ruehl. It was owned by Abercrombie & Fitch and catered to a more contemporary customer than their core brand. Unfortunately they shut their doors a number of years ago but the tanks I bought there are still holding up. The version in these pics is a pretty off-white/cream colored one with a little button placket down the front.

Spring sweaters are a thing with me and I just adore this oversized one that is in the same cream color as the tank. This is from Zara and is knit in a gorgeous pointelle pattern. It’s oversized and looks great with everything. I often wear it over jeans with just a tank or t-shirt underneath. But I really love the cool and  slouchy look of it over the skirt.

I’ve been wanting to use these ankle-tie espadrilles in some photos for a while and this was the perfect outfit for them. They just scream summer in the south of France and finish off the outfit perfectly. I’m a huge fan of Chanel (RIP Karl) and these have a bit of a Chanel-vibe. I love them so much that they just might deserve their very own blog post.

So my slouchy-chic, neutral look came together better than I expected. It transitions so well into Summer too, just remove the sweater and it still looks great. I’ll wear this white linen skirt until it falls apart – I’m in love! I’ve linked some great versions of all the pieces in this outfit below, including the Mango skirt (I’m wearing a size 8 and it’s just slightly loose which is part of why I like the fit of it so much).

See you soon!
